Will Ferrell says Kanye played music throughout ‘Anchorman 2’ filming

Kanye West makes a cameo appearance in the upcoming comedy sequel Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, but the notoriously volatile hip-hop star apparently didn’t quite understand movie shoot decorum. During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Anchorman star Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay shared what it was like being on-set with Yeezy. According to Ferrell, West was playing music throughout the shoot — and it didn’t seem to matter if the cameras were rolling or not.

“He was playing it through the sound department, on the speakers on set, at the park, as people were setting up for the next shot. Which was great,” Ferrell explained.

“But then he didn’t understand when it had to be turned off, when it was time to actually film,” the funnyman continued. “He was like, ‘Hey man, what’s going on?’ We didn’t want Kanye to get upset, but at the same time, we kind of had to film.”

McKay added that West kept asking everyone to check out his music–but the rapper took his scenes very seriously.

“He was like, ‘You guys want to listen to some new tracks?’ We’re like, Yeah, sure! Then he started performing, and it gets to the point where he’s screaming. He goes a full 100-miles-an-hour. Then he’d turn off and go, ‘Anyway, thanks.’ It was hilarious,” McKay explained. “Kanye was great. He really locked in. He asked me a ton of questions. He’s super-interested in process — he’s a big fan of comedy. He took private lessons in beginner’s improve with a friend of mine in Chicago a few years ago.”

Anchorman 2: The Legend of Continues hits theaters on December 18 and will also star Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and Meagan Good. In addition to West, the film features celebrity cameos from Liam Neeson, Drake, Green Day, Nicole Kidman, Jim Carrey and others.
