Beauty expert Tai Beauchamp has teamed up with Target to provide women with strategies for looking their best this holiday season with products from Target. Beauchamp knows about maintaining a flawless appearance as a style and lifestyle expert, TV personality and brand ambassador.
Rolling out sat down with Beauchamp to discuss career, fashion and, of course, beauty tips!
Who did you idolize as a little girl?
My grandmother was one of my biggest inspirations; Diana Ross and Janet Jackson, Barbara Walters. I used to watch [Walters] on the “Today” show every morning and I just loved the way she spoke. I loved the way she engaged people.
Did you ever go through the awkward stage of personal style?
Yup! From sixth to eighth grade. I was trying to be creative. I always had style sensibility. Adjusting lengths and mixing prints. I didn’t gain a full understanding until about 10 years ago. I realized that personal style is all about becoming secure and allowing yourself freedom.
How did you determine your career path?
I started out as a bio major at Spelman College and didn’t like being in a lab coat. I sat down with my mentor and changed my major to English to become a fashion writer. I discovered my passion … it’s been an evolution of empowering women through style.
Go-to outfit for an unexpected event?
A great LBD. A black top and black pants. Tailoring is key. Anything with a great fit will make you look and feel good.
What products do you use for a five-minute makeover?
For concealer I’m completely obsessed with Black Opal, make sure you fill in your eyebrows, CoverGirl Mascara, and a bold red lip. Regardless of complexion, everyone is a few shades lighter in the winter. To save on purchasing several foundations, I mix my foundation with a good face moisturizer to create an even finish.
Products to tame the frizz?
