Much to the delight of hardcore supporters, Louisiana rapper Lil Boosie, has been granted a release date from prison.

After continuous speculation and many false dates given, it looks like Boosie, (his real name) Torrence Hatch, is finally set to be released on August 18, 2014. And this time it definitely is a go as the Louisiana Department of Public Safety and Corrections has posted the date as well.

The Louisiana rapper has been incarcerated since late 2008, first for a probation violation stemming from being caught with marijuana, then he was indicted on first-degree murder charges in 2010, but was acquitted of that charge last year.

Though largely a regional underground rapper, Boosie has accumulated quite a following via social media since his incarceration. #FreeBoosie is often a trending topic on twitter and his facebook page has over three and a half million likes.

Lil Boosie has previously stated that upon release he plans to hit the ground running and it looks like he very well could have some help from the biggest boss of them all. “They telling me (he’ll be out soon),” said Rick Ross in an interview with Power 105, and alluding to a possible record deal with his Maybach Music Group. “I’m going to put a bag on the table for that boy. You never know.”
