Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated is an international service organization that was founded on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 15, 1908. It is the oldest Greek organization established by black college-educated women. Today, the women of AKA celebrate their 106th anniversary.
Alpha Kappa Alpha boasts more than 260,000 members in graduate and undergraduate chapters in the United States and across the globe, including Japan, Korea and on the continent of Africa. The sorority claims a long list of distinguished women who possess excellent academic records, proven leadership skills, and are involved in the global community through advocacy and service. Alpha Kappa Alpha has dedicated itself to improving the quality of life for citizens worldwide and promoting peace.
