Kandi Burruss and her mother, Mama Joyce, have been on the outs with each other for months, thanks to tension between Joyce and Burruss’ fiancé, Todd Tucker. And after being criticized by fans and feeling betrayed by her daughter, Joyce decided to wash her hands of Burruss’ relationship and give her the silent treatment. Now, Joyce has opened up, once again, about her relationship with her daughter and says they’re now on speaking terms again.
“My relationship with Kandi now is in a very good place,” Joyce recently told HLNtv.com.
Joyce says she finally decided to end her silence with Burruss right before her daughter left for a trip out of town.
“She was going out of town, and I said I am not going to let my baby go out of town and not [give] her a call. We hadn’t talked for a couple of weeks. I was really upset with her. Really, I was upset because of the ladies on the ‘Housewives,’ ” Joyce explained.
Since the mother-daughter drama began, several members of the “Housewives” cast have voiced their opinion about the situation, with many of them saying that Joyce was “nutty,” had overstepped her boundaries, and that she was only interested in keeping Burruss’ money to herself.
“I called Kandi,” said Joyce about having her daughter stand up for her. “They think that I was more concerned about her money and taking care of me, and that’s not the case.”
Fans of the show have also called Joyce greedy and have criticized her for staying in Burruss’ old home while bashing her daughter and her relationship. However, Joyce claims that she still has her own home that she paid for.
“I live in the same house that I’ve been living in for 37 years, the house that I moved in one month before Kandi was born.”
Despite all of the drama surrounding their relationship, Joyce says that she and Burruss are doing better now.
“I decided to stay out of their relationship and let them deal with their relationship. They’re together, but I’m out of their relationship. It’s much healthier, but I have rekindled a healthy relationship with my daughter and my granddaughter, and we’re in a good place,” she said.
However, she says she that she still hasn’t built a healthy relationship with Tucker.
“I really haven’t talked to Todd,” said Joyce, adding that she hopes she’s wrong about thinking Tucker is an opportunist. “I pray and hope that I am wrong about Todd and if I am wrong, I’ll come back to HLN and say, ‘I am wrong about Todd Tucker,’ and if I’m right, I will be totally quiet and y’all will not hear a word from me.”
We hope that Joyce is wrong too and that Burruss can finally have a happy home and ending with both her mom and the man of her dreams at peace. –nicholas robinson
