America can add to its growing list of violent crimes committed by teens the horrifying tale of a son who murdered his brother and father.
Thorsten Gunter Rushing, 18, shot his 49 year old father and smothered his 13 year old brother because “he was not bleeding out fast enough.” Rushing had the help of four of his friends to commit this crime. The plan was elaborate; Rushing had one friend hide in the closet for hours until the right moment arrived. That moment was when his father Uwe and brother Stefan were sitting down watching TV. His friends then came over to help him dispose of the murder weapon and other evidence and later met at Rushing’s grandparents’ house to go over their cover story.
The cover story was that two black men forced their way into the house as part of a home invasion and Rushing chased them out of the house with a shotgun. Supposedly, the killings took place during the invasion; however, police said things did not add up. Nothing in the house was knocked over, even though Rushing stated that one of the robbers was running through the home shooting. During police questioning, the description of the attackers changed to white and Hispanic males. Based on the evidence and conflicting story, Rushing and his friend Ethan Alexander Thompson, 19, were charged with two counts of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder. The other three friends identified as Timothy Alan Delahoy Jr., 18, Cody Xavier Davis, 19 and Wesley Bankston, 17, were charged with conspiracy to commit murder and accessory after the fact of murder. No motive other than reports of turmoil in the home was given.
