Hollywood lost one of its most talented performers this weekend with the sudden death of Oscar-winner Philip Seymour Hoffman. From his early appearances in the 1990s, to his critically-acclaimed roles from 2000 to 2010, Hoffman’s name was often mentioned when fans and critics cited actors of tremendous talent but less-than-ubiquitous personas. He’s worked with iconic directors like Spike Lee, Paul Thomas Anderson and Joel and Ethan Coen and shared the stage and screen with some of the best actors of our time.
He was an actor’s actor, a talent of staggering range and depth. For him to die at the age of 46 with a needle in his arm is a tragic waste.
