The husbands of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” spend a lot of time in front of the camera playing supporting players to the reality TV star wives. With the women of “RHOA” making so much money, one would assume that the husbands take home a nice chunk of change as well. However, when Gregg Leakes, Peter Thomas and Apollo Nida recently appeared on “Bethenny,” they revealed that they make far less – and we do mean far less – than people think.
When host Bethenny Frankel, a former “Real Housewives of New York” cast member asked the husbands if they make any money from the show, they all let out a resounding, “no.”
Thomas elaborated, saying, “It’s more like a part-time job for us, it’s not demanding all of our time as much as it does for the girls. We’re pretty much there as support for them.”
“And benefits,” Gregg chimed in, citing the many dinners and luxe vacations that the cast gets to partake in.
When asked if they like being on the show, Thomas responded, “not all the time.” Then asked if they felt like they were paying a price to their lives by being on the show, Thomas answered, “100 percent.”
“For me, I think so. Coming from six years in prison and then thrown into a TV show was kind of difficult. I think from the first time coming off I was very quiet, kind of shy. It was just a difficult transition for me,” Nida added.
Frankel asked the men what they think of life in the fame and Leakes, not surprisingly, gave a loving and supporting response about standing by his wife’s side while he watched her achieve her dreams.
“We’re byproducts, we’re support, we are the wind beneath these women’s wings. We know our lane. We know what we need to do and what we don’t need to do,” said Leakes.
