A 19-year-old mother in South Florida can’t walk and can only speak a few words after falling into a coma due to complications of breast augmentation surgery. According to the Miami Herald, Linda Perez decided to have breast augmentation surgery at the Coral Gables Cosmetic Center in August of 2012.
The procedure was considerably cheaper than the normal rate for the surgery. An hour after the operation, Perez was rushed to the emergency room at Mercy Hospital. She eventually fell into a coma and suffered brain damage. Although doctors suggested that her family pull the plug and prepare for her funeral, they decided to keep her alive.
Perez was able to wake up from her coma and return home in November. However, Perez is required 24-hour-a-day nursing care. She has loss weight and needs help to complete basic tasks. She has fallen into a depression because she is powerless when it comes to her health.
Perez’s parents will become the legal guardians of her 4-year-old son. They have filed a lawsuit against Coral Gables Cosmetic Center for medical malpractice.
