4 black Detroit youths kill and burn in a rampage

Four black youths are being held in Detroit for a violent rampage that left three people dead.

Tenisha Jackson, 19; Larry Johnson, 20; Rashawn Johnson, 19; and Keeshon Lake, 19, have each been charged with first-degree murder, felony murder, armed robbery and arson, according to police.

When firefighters responded to a house fire on Feb. 10, 2013, they were shocked to find three victims. One was near death on the first floor, and two other victims were found in the basement of the blazing inferno.  Lawrence Bowman, 51; his son, Nicholas Bowman, 2; and Michael Hoots, 24, were all found stabbed multiple times and the elder Bowman was also shot in the head.

Police believe the victims were tortured and Sgt. Michael Wood issued a press release stating “The nature of the wounds were horrific, all three victims were stabbed multiple times. … In addition, the fire had been obviously set to cover up what turned out to be a brutal murder in an attempt to destroy potential evidence.”

Police found the perpetrators of the crime by tracking down the stolen 2013 Chrysler 200 owned by Hoots to the residence of one of the suspects. Inside the home, police found personal items of the victims as well as bloody clothing and an undisclosed amount of heroin. Because of the level of crime in Detroit, a homicide task force consisting of city, state and federal law enforcement officials were involved in this investigation.
