Do you have any fond memories of going to the salon growing up?
“My mother’s house was [the] go-to spot for Jheri curls in the neighborhood. So it always smelled of sulfur, (insert laugh). It was always packed with ladies needing to get their hair relaxed or permed. Curlers were everywhere: big ones, little ones, pink ones, blue ones. It was a lot of cooking going on in that kitchen.”
