High school football star arrested after impregnating his younger cousin

A heavily recruited football star’s dreams of playing major college football — and quite possibly performing in the National Football League — were shattered in an instant when the West Palm Beach, Fla, high school student was thrown in jail after allegedly impregnating his younger cousin, according to police reports.

Sherieff Rhaheed, 17, of Fort Pierce Central High School linebacker was arrested after his cousin, 14, becomes pregnant with his baby, police state, and is being charged with a lewd lascivious act on a person under age 16.

Rhaheed had just agreed to the University of Louisville on a full football scholarship. According to the UL sports information office, Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino is aware of the situation, but refused to say whether the football star’s arrest jeopardizes his standing with the team he would be set to join in June.

The girl reportedly had an abortion in November after her mother discovered her child was pregnant. The girl said that her older cousin was the baby’s father. Initially, Rhaheed’s mother would not let cops take a DNA sample for her son. It was not until a warrant was served to Rhaheed while he was at school that a DNA swab was taken, reports WPEC.

Police relayed the fact there is a 99.99 percent chance that he impregnated his 14-year-old cousin.  The girl said she was 11 when Rhaheed began touching her inappropriately. She said when they had sex in June 2013, Rhaheed “did not force himself on her and that it just happened.”

To illustrate just how much he was coveted and how good he was, the 6-foot-2, 202-pound Rhaheed rejected the chance to play for Arkansas, Michigan State, Louisiana State (LSU) and Missouri to sign with the Cardinals. According to his ESPN scouting profile, Sharieff ranks as a 4 (out of 5) star prospect and was considered one of the best linebackers in the state of Florida.

And now all that talent is completely wasted.
