Rumors have been swirling about Nelly and Ashanti ever since the rapper broke up with his latest ex, Tae Heckard, with many wondering if Nelly and Ashanti have reunited again. Both stars have remained relatively mum about the issue, with Ashanti refusing to say yay or nay. However, Ashanti recently got more candid about her relationship with Nelly and seemed to drop about his former relationship with actress Tae Heckard.
During a recent interview on Power 105’s The Breakfast Club, Ashanti talked about her split with Nelly, saying,“I will say that there was a space where it was bad. Like, it was really bad. Are we cool? Yeah.”
Ashanti also addressed rumors that she cheated or that he caused the breakup.
“Look, we both definitely made mistakes in a lot of things. What I will say is things come full circle. It was both people,” Ashanti said.
The radio hosts asserted that Ashanti is still in love with Nelly, but the singer coyly avoided giving a direct answer about it.
“Nelly is a really good person. He has a really, really good heart,” Ashanti said.
Ashanti also addressed Nelly’s rebound relationship with Heckard, saying that his relationship with her wasn’t real.
“I’m very smart and I know him, and I knew what the facade was,” Ashanti said.
Things got comically shady towards the end of the interview when the hosts asked Ashanti if Nelly’s allowed to be friends with Heckard.
“What? Who? I don’t know what y’all are talking about right now,” Ashanti said with a laugh.
