Nicki Minaj foolishly compares herself to racist Donald Sterling in new song ‘Yasss B—‘

Nicki Minaj has created controversy over a lyric in her latest song, “Yasss B—-.” In the song, which features a collaboration with Soulja Boy, Minaj raps, “I don’t f— with you n—s, I own the Clippers.”

Minaj is referring to Donald Sterling’s racist rant where he warned his mistress, V. Stiviano, against bringing black people to his L.A. Clippers’ games.

Although Minaj stands as the first prominent rapper to address the lyric in a song, her execution was poor and lazy. It actually comes off as an endorsement for racism and Sterling’s racist views. If any white artist would’ve spewed the same lyric, there would be an outrage within the black community.

When it comes to lyrics and presentation, Minaj often seems to lack common sense or purposely puts herself in a bad position for the sake of shock value. But instead of adding shock value, she often comes off as an artist without a clue on how to be clever.

During Black History Month, Minaj faced criticism for using an iconic Malcolm X image for her song “Lookin’ A– N—.” Due to the controversy, the song never gained traction.
