A bride in Tennessee wanted her newborn baby to be a part of her wedding day. But instead of holding the baby at some point during the ceremony, Shona Carter-Brooks strapped the 1-month-old baby to the train of her wedding dress.

As Carter-Brooks walked down the aisle to get married at Elam Baptist Church in Jackson, Tennessee, those who attended the wedding noticed that her baby was strapped to the train of her Vera Wang wedding dress. Attendees began taking pictures and posting on Instagram and Facebook.

The picture led to outrage and shock and some called for Carter-Brooks to be investigated. Some believed the baby could’ve been hurt and suffered from carpet burns while being dragged across the carpet.

Carter-Brooks addressed her critics on Facebook by saying that her baby was safe throughout the proceedings because her daughter was “covered by the blood which never looses [sic] its power. As long as Jesus on our side everything … fine and gonna continue to be fine.”

Authorities have yet to respond to the incident.
