‘The View’ fires Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy
It seems that Sherri Shepherd’s marital issues haven’t been sitting well with viewers of ABC’s “The View.” While TMZ reported earlier this week that everyone with the exclusion of co-host Whoopi Goldberg had been fired, in a statement made to US Weekly on June 26, ABC reveals that “The View will be moving in an exciting new direction next season and ABC has made decisions to evolve the show creatively.”
Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd will not be returning to the hit talk show, leaving Goldberg as the sole remaining cast member.
While there have been many rumors fueling Shepard’s abrupt exit, including her very public custody battle for her unborn child, sources say that the true reason behind her departure was the inability to reach an agreement while negotiating a new deal. McCarthy’s exit on the other hand, was simply the result of the show’s desire to move in a different direction creatively.
Although ABC has already announced Shepherd and McCarthy’s fate, it is most likely that we will still see quite a bit of them for the remainder of the season.
In response to the news, Shepard released her own statement via Twitter, hit the flip for her very humble exit. –ruthie hawkins/@ruubabie
