Mixtape Mondays: Lil Durk ‘Signed to the Streets 2’

Arguably the most talked about Drill music rapper at the moment, Lil Durk is back with the sequel to his popular mixtape, Signed To The Streets.

Between frustrations with his label, Def Jam, and the tragic death of his cousin and OTF squad member Nunu, Durk had a lot to get off his chest on this one. This time around, Durk takes no prisoners letting us know from the start of the collection’s opener, “Ready For Em” that he’s just trying to do what he “spits in the booth.”

Drill music fans will thoroughly enjoy this effort from Durk, while those not familiar with the genre may feel the subject matter is a bit repetitive. But sometimes the music is more or less about the energy if nothing else. With guest appearances by French Montana, Cash Out, and Migos and production by Young Chop, Cardo, C-Sick and others, Durk manages to make this effort steady yet frantic, kinetic and guaranteed to get your adrenaline going.

All in all STTS2 is a solid effort from Durk and will definitely keep his fans satisfied until his Def Jam debut drops later this year. Look for his first single from the album to feature French Montana and Chris Brown.
