Killer is captured, thanks to social media
LA Clippers’ player Matt Barnes is distraught. The man accused of killing his aunt Tanganyika Williams, 48, was her husband Michael Williams, 51. He’d bee on the run since July 8, 2014. Barnes sent out a plea to his more than 262,000 social media followers to help track Williams down. The Sacramento Police Department on Tuesday said the suspect is now in police custody “thanks to a citizen tip.”
Tanganyika Williams was stabbed and died on the way to the hospital. Michael Williams fled the scene and prior to his capture was believed to be hiding out in the streets of Sacramento, California. The family created a GoFundMe page to raise $5,000 to pay funeral costs.
Matt Barnes is married to Gloria Govan, formerly of “Basketball Wives LA.” They have twin sons. Last season, Barnes signed a three-year, $10.2 million contract with the Clippers.
