For weeks, rumors have been circulating that NeNe Leakes has been gunning for one of the empty seats on “The View” in the wake of the departures of Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd. However, if the new rumors are true, Leakes may never be a co-host on the show, and it’s all allegedly because of Rosie O’Donnell.
According to the rumor mill, when O’Donnell signed a new contract to return as a host on “The View,” ABC agreed to her demand that all reality TV stars will be banned from co-hosting the show.
During a recent interview with “Entertainment Tonight,” Leakes addressed the rumors and claimed that she was disappointed in O’Donnell for taking such a stance against reality stars.
“I’ve already worked with five or six women, so I know what that’s like,” said Leakes, laughing.
“I would be kind of disappointed if she said that [she doesn’t want reality stars], when, there was once upon a time where we hosted Anderson’s show together and she really was like ‘I would love to do a talk show with you.’ So I don’t know why she would say such a thing,” she said.
However, Leakes didn’t seem too down about her chances of hosting the show because she sees herself as more than a reality TV star.
“The good thing about this Rosie, is that NeNe Leakes is not just a reality star. I’m a mogul, I am an actress, I am a producer, I am a clothing designer,” said Leakes.
We’ll just have to wait and see who ends up making the cut to replace McCarthy and Shepherd later this year, but if Leakes does make it on the show, we won’t be surprised if sparks fly between her and O’Donnell. –nicholas robinson
