Has Fantasia Barrino’s new man and his dark past caused the father of her 13-year-old daughter to step up to the plate?
It’s no secret that Barrino has struggled both in her personal relationships as well as a single mother on her rise to fame. According to a recent statement obtained by RumorFix from Barrino’s rep, the “Lose to Win” recording artist’s ex has had enough of the drama and wants full custody of their child.
The statement reads …
“Fantasia Barrino is currently involved in a Child Custody, Visitation, and Child Support legal proceeding filed in Mecklenburg, North Carolina. The lawsuit was filed by Brandel J. Shouse, the father of Fantasia’s 13-year-old daughter Zion. Despite living in North Carolina, Mr. Shouse had very little personal contact with Zion and has provided no financial support for her. The case will not be heard until 2015. Fantasia is confident that legal process will move forward smoothly and that the Court will make a decision that is in the best interest of Zion.”
“Fantasia hopes that her fans understand the sensitive nature of these matters and that she cannot share with them all of the details at this time. Fantasia also knows that all of her ‘Baby Mama’ fans know exactly what she is going though and will support her as she continues to take wonderful and complete care of her daughter.”
Although it is all speculation at this point, the rumor mill is alleging that the “American Idol” alums new boy toy may be the reason behind the sudden drama.
As you may recall, last month Barrino debuted her new boyfriend, Kendall Taylor, via Instagram, where she gushed over “real love.”

“I wrote this song years ago titled’ Daydreaming’… It’s On YouTube now ( the First song I had ever wrote). In the song I was singing about A very special presence that would come to me in my dreams every since I was 12 years old. He would tell me how beautiful I was and would always talk about my eyes and my smile. When it was time to wake from the dream he would asked me over and over please don’t go. The funny part is it was never a sexual thing it was just his presence and the love that I felt in the Dreams (I felt Protected and so very safe). I would hear him call my name *Fantasia* and I would go, I would just follow him wherever… It would be long walks in Beautiful places and EVERYTIME It was so peaceful, it felt like a best friend somebody I had known all my life. The Only people I would talk about the Dreams to was My Mommy and @neek1064. I began to think that I would only feel that kind of love in my Dreams… Well I Don’t Have That Dream Anymore because he CAME.”
Weeks later, fans slammed Fantasia after reports revealed Taylor’s dark and disturbing past, including several criminal convictions, such as assault on a female and felonious possession of a weapon.
It’s safe to say that this could get interesting.
