Grab your popcorn ladies, Warner Bros. has announced the release date for the highly anticipated Magic Mike sequel, Magic Mike XXL, along with some new casting news.
Recently, returning star, Channing Tatum revealed that the hunky film is set to hit a big screen near you as soon as next summer when he shared the below image via Instagram.
“Breaking #MagicMikeXXL news — the @MagicMikeMovie sequel hits theaters July 1, 2015 with a slew of new faces including @ElizabethBanks, @childishgambino, #AmberHeard, @AndieMacDowell, #JadaPinkettSmith and @MichaelStrahan! Filming is underway now with #ChanningTatum and most of the original cast you love. ‘LIKE’ if you can’t wait!” read that caption.
What can you expect from Magic Mike (Tatum), Big Dick Richie (Joe Manganiello) and the rest of the chiseled studs in XXL you ask? According to Warner Bros. studios, Magic Mike XXL is..
“Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.”
The announcement of Magic Mike XXL’s release date follows just weeks after “Gotham” villian Jada Pinkett Smith revealed on “The Queen Latifah Show,” that she’d joined the cast of sexy shirtless men. When asked about whether or not she’d be going drag and dropping trou’ with the rest of the fellas, Pinkett replied ”No, not one of those men — I can’t really reveal it yet, but I’m very excited about it. It’s been a lot of fun.”
“You’ve got to know I’m used to being around beefcake like that because you know who I live with,” she continued when prompted about how she felt about being surrounded by “beefcake.”
“I’m used to that kind of beefcake-ness in my environment,” she added. “I can handle it. They know. I don’t have to say anything!”
