Why a man is being forced to pay support for a child he never fathered

Carnell Alexander will have to cough up $30,000 to pay off a child support bill or face prison. However, Alexander has proof that he never fathered the child.

According to ABC 7 in Detroit, Alexander received a notice for a child support bill in the early ’90s. It was strange because Alexander didn’t have a child at that point. He never paid the amount owed and the bill accrued over the years.

Alexander recently received the updated bill. He eventually found the woman who accused him of fathering the child and took a DNA test. The DNA test revealed that Alexander was not the father.

Furthermore, the woman who accused Alexander of being the father said she only used his name because she needed public assistance. She didn’t know the father of her child and placed Alexander’s name on the document to receive assistance. The only way she could receive assistance was to identify the father of her child.

The woman told the courts that Alexander was not the father of her child and took responsibility for the entire mishap. But the courts are still requiring him to pay the remaining balance of $30,000.

Alexander refuses to pay the amount owed and is currently being threatened with jail time.
