Jay Z was on hand to watch the Dallas Cowboys come from behind to defeat the New York Giants, 31-28 on Sunday night; but it’s unclear where the New York native’s allegiances were. Jay’s Roc Nation sports management company signed Cowboys star receiver Dez Bryant earlier this year, and Bryant threw up “The Roc” proudly after both of his touchdowns in the Cowboys win. So while Jay may have love for the G-Men, he wants what’s best for a certain Cowboy in particular.
Bryant is seeking a lucrative new contract with the Cowboys; but the franchise has reportedly offered the receiver a 10-year deal that averaged less than $12 million per year and included only $20 million in guaranteed money. It was rejected.
Jay Z and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones were able to chat prior to the game, but when Jones was asked about his conversation with Jay, he downplayed the contract negotiations and joked about possibly making a deal to have the hip-hop legend perform as a halftime act.
“Yeah, I was working on a halftime deal with him for Thanksgiving,” Jones said, winking. He added, “No it’s good. He had just been to the stadium and entertained there. He’s outstanding.”
