Who gave you your first Bible?
My great grandmother, Aslee Mitchell, she lived on the West Side of Chicago in Cabrini-Green. She was a pianist and the minister of music at her church. She saw something in me when I was a kid and gave me a Bible on my 1st birthday with my name engraved on it. I keep it in a safe deposit box because it reminds me of my great grandmother and the beginning of her depositing in me who I am today.
What version of the Bible do you study?
I am really grateful for the iPhone, which offers all versions. I study the book of King James, which can sometimes be a hard read. The Message, Amplified and the American Standard are the ones I reference for clarity and understanding.
What is your prayer life like?
I pray as often as I can. I definitely do it every day. Prayer, meditation and spending time with God keeps me fulfilled. We need to fulfilled and healed, and that comes through prayer.
What was the first gospel song you knew all the words to?
