Jordin Sparks has been taking her ex-boyfriend, Jason Derulo, to task all week over their high-profile breakup last year. And during her most recent interview, she blasted the singer over a car he bought for her. But now Derulo has chosen to strike back at Sparks and defend his gift.
The drama all began when Sparks appeared on “The Breakfast Club” yesterday and discussed the BMW that Derulo gifted her for Christmas. Host Angela Yee joked that Derulo seemed like the kind of guy to lease a car and lie about buying it. That’s when Sparks chimed and claimed “it kind of happened like that.”
Sparks claimed that she’s not sure what kind of payments she was supposed to make — she never made any — but she explains that she ended up returning the car to the dealership because keeping it “would be like dirty money.”
“Well, if he wanted it, he could have it. I dropped it off at the BMW dealership and said, ‘You can deal with it,’” she said.
When Derulo appeared on the same show last year and discussed his breakup with Sparks, he claimed that he “wouldn’t take the car back.”
However, the story didn’t end there because not too long after Sparks’ “Breakfast Club” interview aired, he went on Instagram to try and prove that he did indeed purchase the car.
