Laverne Cox has been on an unstoppable roll in Hollywood ever since she landed the part on hairstyling inmate Sophia Burset on “Orange Is the New Black.” Now Cox is going from Emmy-nominated guest actress to high-profile starring role in a new CBS legal drama “Doubt.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “Doubt” will center around a yet-to-be-cast smart and chic defense lawyer who ends up in a shocking relationship with a client who may have committed a brutal murder.
Cox will co-star as Cameron Wirth, an Ivy League-educated transgender attorney who has experienced injustice, which fuels her passion for her clients. Making the role even more distinct is the fact that it was created specifically for a transgender actress.
Congratulations are definitely in order for Cox and we hope her new role opens the door for other transgender actors to make a splash in TV.
