At some point, celebrities need to know it’s not OK to pass judgement and insult people at will. On Monday’s post-Oscar episode of “Fashion Police” on E!, Co-host Giuliana Rancic made some disparaging remarks about Disney star Zendaya’s faux locs. She quipped, “I feel like she smells like patchouli oil and weed.” Never mind the fact that Zendaya looked glamorous in a gorgeous white Vivienne Westwood gown.

Zendaya didn’t take the comment lightly and very politely put a now embarrassed Rancic in her place, saying in part:”There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful. Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe,” she says on Twitter.

“I was hit with ignorant slurs and pure disrespect. To say that an 18 year old young woman with locs [dreadlocks] must smell of patchouli oil or ‘weed’ is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive. I don’t usually feel the need to respond to negative things, but certain remarks cannot go unchecked.”

Zendaya didn’t have to take this brow beating alone. She even received support from people who’s name she dropped in her Twitter response.
