79-year-old grandma allegedly shoots nephew over $20

According to authorizes, an Alabama grandmother, Ira Peterson is being accused of allegedly shooting her nephew after she confronted him about some missing money. According to, Peterson, 79, allegedly shot her nephew after he reportedly stole $20 from her.

Peterson and her nephew (whose name and age were not disclosed) live together. So, when Peterson’s money went missing, her first thought was that her nephew had robbed her. On Sunday, Feb. 22, police responded to a shooting call and found the nephew outside suffering from a gunshot wound to his foot.

Peterson was arrested and faces a second-degree domestic violence charge. She bonded out later that same day.
