The 14th annual Bridge Builder Awards took place April 16 at The Foundry at Puritan Mill. Dr. Alvetta Peterman Thomas, president of Atlanta Technical College, welcomed and recognized the 2015 Bridge Builder recipients. It was an evening of celebration and recognition of community leaders who realize the importance of education and promote access for all who wish to achieve the dream of higher education. The master of ceremonies was Chesley McNeil, meteorologist, Channel 11-WXIA.
The awardees were Rodney Bullard, VP of community affairs at Chick-fil-A, Inc., and executive director of the Chick-fil-A Foundation; Quinnie Jenkins-Rice, regional leader community affairs and grassroots, Southwest Airlines; and Detelev Von Platen, president and CEO, Porsche Cars North America.
Also in attendance were Henry “Hank” Aaron and Councilmember Joyce Sheperd, Dist. 12. Those who helped present the awards included John Deushane, WXIA Channel 11; Erica Qualls, Atlanta Marriott Marquis; and Yesmeen Jiles, Atlanta Technical College 2015 Student of the Year.
