All dog lovers were moved, when the pictures of an abused 15-month-old Chocolate Staffie mix named Caitlyn hit the media. The puppy was found to have its mouth painfully shut with electrical tape in Charleston, South Carolina, and was rescued by a good Samaritan. Now police have made an arrest in this case of animal abuse. William Leonard Dodson, 41, was arrested on Monday and faces charges of ill treatment of animals and torture.

Dodson purchased the puppy for $20 from an unidentified woman. When the woman saw him again and asked how the puppy was doing, Dodson allegedly said he was tired of the dog barking and taped its mouth shut. The woman thought Dodson was joking and laughed along with him after he made the statement.  Dodson later told the same woman at some point that the dog had gotten loose and was lost. If convicted, he faces between 180 days to five years in prison, and a $5,000 fine, police said.
