A shocking side to abortion has been exposed by a group calling itself The Center for Medical Progress. The organization used undercover actors posing as customers for aborted fetus body tissue and met with Dr. Deborah Nucatola, senior director of medical services for Planned Parenthood. Dr. Nucatola supervises the abortion practice of all Planned Parenthood affiliates.
The video records Dr. Nucatola talking to individuals she believes are from a fetal tissue procurement company. In the video, Dr. Nucatola casually talks about the harvesting of intact fetal organs and tissue, specifically about abortion procedures. Disturbingly, Dr. Nucatola discussed using ultrasound-guided techniques to ensure that the fetus is delivered feet first, a breech position, so that the head does not exit and the entirety of the aborted fetus is delivered,as she casually eats a meal.
Dr. Nucatola states in the video that “Every provider has had patients who want to donate their tissue and they absolutely want to accommodate them. They just want to do it in a way that is not perceived as ‘This clinic is selling tissue, this clinic is making money off of this.’ ” Dr. Nucatola then goes on to state that a price range paid is generally “$30-100 depending on the facility and what’s involved.” Among the specific organs that are in popular demand, according to Dr. Nucatola, are livers, and using ultrasound guidance the provider will know where to place the forceps.
According to the video “Planned Parenthood Federation of America operates like a franchise, with many regional affiliates carrying the Planned Parenthood brand name and reporting to the national office. PPFA has affiliates contract directly for body parts sales, so that a regional affiliate can take the fall for the entire organization if the sales are exposed.”
An order form for a bio-medical tissue supplier identified as “Stemexpress” is shown in the video with drop-down lists that allow customer to indicate the gestational age desired and what tissue is needed as well as the cost. Since the publishing of the video the company website is offline and its Facebook page has been deleted.
Planned Parenthood issued a statement that reads in part “There is no financial benefit for tissue donation for either the patient or Planned Parenthood. In some instances, actual costs, such as the cost to transport tissue to leading research centers, are reimbursed, which is standard across the medical field. A well-funded group established for the purpose of damaging Planned Parenthood’s mission and services has promoted a heavily edited, secretly recorded videotape that falsely portrays Planned Parenthood’s participation in tissue donation programs that support life-saving scientific research. “
