President Barack Obama visited Nairobi, Kenya, to co-host the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit on Saturday. He became the first U.S. president to ever visit Kenya and emphasized the significance of being welcomed in the country where his paternal family resides.
“It is wonderful to be back in Kenya. I am proud to be the first U.S. president to visit Kenya,” Obama said after greeting the audience with “niaje wasee,” urban slang in the area for “how are you?”
“This is a personal thing for me, my family came from these parts and I have relatives and family here,” he continued.
