In the opening round of the AEBL playoffs, NBA players came out strong to help their respective teams advance to the final weekend of play for the 2015 season. A few notable players who suited up over the weekend included Lou Williams (Los Angeles Lakers), John Jenkins (Dallas Mavericks), Paul Millsap (Atlanta Hawks), and Josh Smith (Los Angeles Clippers).
All 12 teams were eligible to play in the single elimination opening round of the playoffs. Top seeded teams, Good Life Music Group, Raunchy Clothing and Hand Down Man Down all saw their seasons come to abrupt ends.
Defending champions, Uptown Sounds, played in an overtime thriller in which NBA Sixth Man of the Year, Lou Williams, faced-off against two-time NBA All-Star, Paul Millsap’s team, The Skills Factory. Williams scored 49 points in the game to lead his team to the semi-finals next weekend.
In addition to the action on the courts, prior to the games on Saturday, 2 Chainz’s Tru Foundation and AEBL hosted a back-to-school event at Grady High School. The event catered to more than 200 children and helped prepare students and parents for the upcoming school year. The Tru Foundation and AEBL gave away backpacks with school supplies and provided haircuts and hairstyles to those in attendance.
