If you have any injuries or conditions affecting your musculoskeletal and nervous systems, your best bet to healing is visiting Atlanta Spine Center. The chiropractic care facility, which uses a holistic approach completely void of drugs, is having a special open house event Thursday, Aug. 20 where you can learn more about their style of treatment.

The clinic is expanding their practice into an “integrative multi-specialty practice that can treat the whole person, not just certain conditions,” says Dr. Roberto A. Vargas. So, the health care team moved down the street to a larger location, and the open house will allow attendees to view just how the clinic has settled into the new, unique setting.

Atlanta Spine Center was opened in 1996 by Dr. Vicky L. Yarns, and Dr. Vargas joined the team in 2006. The facility treats patients in a variety of ways, such as with massage therapy, physical therapy and acupuncture. Something else that sets this clinic apart from others is the genuine care the team provides to its clients.

“We really treat everyone here as a person. We don’t look at them just as a condition or injury or some sort of compliant coming in through the door,” Dr. Vargas said.

“They’re more than, say, a person who got into a car accident. We develop personal relationships with these individuals, and that makes us better doctors because we have a personal connection. That makes us go that much further into treating them,” he continued.

One reason for the clinic’s expansion is the growth and diversity resulting from changes in the health care field.

“The landscape of health care has changed with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, and because of that, we have seen more people coming through our doors because people do have insurance,” Dr. Vargas said. “With that influx, diversity of that group of individuals expands. We are now more than ever, part of a bigger health care outlook.”

Dr. Vargas especially has a close connection to his patients because he grew up watching his father, a New York-based chiropractor, care for people in need. His passion for having the freedom to heal patients without being bound to drugs also drives him to be an exceptional chiropractor.

“I always had this silly little image of ‘if I was stranded on a deserted island, me with tools in my bag, I can actually help someone.’ I don’t need syringes or pills or anything else to be useful in any setting,” he affirms.
