Mariah Carey has announced that she’ll be releasing a children’s book based on her hit single “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”
“When I wrote ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You‘ it was my dream for it to become a classic Christmas song,” Mariah told People in a statement. “I am so proud of the song’s impact as it continues to create memories for fans each year. I am thrilled to be able to bring the story of the song to new generations of families with the picture book.”
And how exciting that she’ll now be able to share this moment with her twins, Moroccan and Monroe? The children’s picture book will feature complete lyrics from Carey’s chart-topping hit as well as tell the tale of a little girl whose greatest holiday wish is for a new puppy. “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” has sold over 14 million copies since its release in 1994.
Back in 1994, “ET” chatted with the 45-year-old about “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” but nobody could’ve predicted the massive success the song has garnered — except, of course, for Carey herself. “When you record a Christmas album, it’s around for the rest of your life. It’s something that people can play for years and years to come,” said the pop star. “You always hope people will like them, they’ll become classics. You know, that’s a dream.”
Additionally, Carey is set to direct and star in Mariah Carey’s Christmas Project, a feel-good Hallmark Channel holiday movie, also based on the song. Who would have thought that over 20 years later, this song would still be making waves? All I Want for Christmas Is You hits shelves Nov. 10. Will you buy it?
