Nicki Minaj and Miley Cyrus’ high-profile feud has been all over the news ever since Minaj called Cyrus a “b—h” on stage this past Sunday at the MTV VMAs in response to Cyrus criticizing her during an interview. Throughout the media firestorm, fans across the board have been talking about whose side they’re on, or if they even believe that the incident was real or staged. Now, fellow entertainer Azealia Banks has weighed in on the matter and she’s blasting both Minaj and Cyrus for being “basic.”
As previously reported, after Minaj complained about her hit “Anaconda” video not being nominated for Video of the Year at the MTV VMAs and accusing the media of disregarding the cultural contributions of black women, Cyrus criticized Minaj in a New York Times interview.
“If you want to make it about race, there’s a way you could do that. But don’t make it just about yourself. Say: ‘This is the reason why I think it’s important to be nominated. There [are] girls everywhere with this body type,’” Cyrus said.
She added, “What I read sounded very Nicki Minaj, which, if you know Nicki Minaj is not too kind. It’s not very polite. I think there’s a way you speak to people with openness and love.”
At Sunday’s VMAs. Minaj accepted the award for Best Hip-Hop Video and, during her acceptance speech, she turned to Cyrus and said, “And now … back to…this b—- that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press, Miley, what’s good?!”
Since then, both artists have been mum on their beef, but this morning Banks decided to give her opinion on the matter and threw shade at Minaj, Cyrus and even Taylor Swift. Read what she had to say after the cut.
