Venus Williams is already a seven-time Grand Slam champion and a growing fashion mogul, but now the tennis icon can add another title to her name and that’s college graduate because she just received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Indiana University East.
According to a press release from the university, Williams enrolled in the school’s online degree completion program in 2011 after getting an associate degree in fashion design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 2007.
“One of the main reasons that I chose IU East was because I felt so at home. It was like family, like it was my school, and I was so excited. It’s been an incredible journey,” Williams said in the press release. “I’ve learned so much. It was always my dream to have a business degree and I ended up going to art school so many times, but in the back of my head I felt like I needed the tools to be a better leader, to be a better planner, to be better at all of the things I wanted to do in my businesses because I’m so hands-on.”
IU East Chancellor Kathryn Cruz-Uribe also spoke about Williams’ degree and congratulated her.
“We congratulate Venus on earning her degree and are delighted to welcome her to the IU East Alumni Association with over 8,000 fellow graduates,” Cruz-Uribe said.
Well, congratulations are definitely in order for Williams and we hope she also does well while competing in the U.S. Open.
