I love fall! With fall comes the beauty of the leaves changing colors, weather cooling down and harvest season. For those that were wise and planted good seeds, this is a season of celebration!
Often when we think of a harvest, our analogies are of a farmer. We know that farmers intentionally plant specific seeds in the spring to yield specific crops in the fall, the season of harvest. As a result, they know exactly what items they should expect when the ground readies itself to produce. It is also during this season that they study and analyze their crops and decide if they are going to plant the same type of seeds. They do not replant ill producing seeds.
What have the seeds you’ve sown in the spring harvested for the fall?
The bible teaches in Galatians 6:7 that “whatever a man shall sow, that shall he also reap.” To make it plain for you, your life is a direct result of your actions. BAM!
I don’t care how much praying you do. You can not expect a harvest that you didn’t plant. Your actions must meet your confessions.
In Mark 11:22 – 24 you will find the story of The Withered Fig Tree. The Withered Fig Tree presents us with a parable about a mountain to teach us about faith and the power of confessions. It reads:
And Jesus answered saying to them, “Have faith in God. 23″Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. 24″Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you: Mark 11:22 – 24
Now you may be asking, all I have to do is say what I believe and have faith and my situation will change? No. It’s not that simple. There’s work to do once you plant your seed.
For example, you may need to change your circle of friends. Who are you hanging around? What type of influence are they having on your situations? I can assure you that they are influencing the types of seeds you are sowing. A good friend of mine always reminds me, if you hang around 7 broke people, you will quickly become the 8th broke person.
Begin confessing new truths and beliefs. Verse 23 says to confess and believe. It takes mountain moving faith to change your seeds. Your life may not immediately become better but it will over time. We don’t lose hope that an apple seed will produce an apple tree. It takes effort, planning and patience. Don’t fall prey to your past either. The awesomeness of God is his grace! Grace allows us to repent and move forward without staking claim to our old selves. You are not who you used to be.
I remember something I came up with that says, “Mountain movers don’t trip over rocks.” This means that there will be people – rocks – who will want to cause you stumble or trip but don’t fall for it. Take the high road and pass by them! I promise you with your new found activated seeds of faith, your life will begin to produce the type of harvest you never thought possible if you just remain planted.
Let’s WIN Together!
