It was an emotional time for Sherri Shepherd last year when she was fired from “The View” after years of serving as a co-host on the hit daytime talk show. After her departure, producers tried to replace her with a roster of new co-hosts, including Rosie O’Donnell. But after O’Donnell decided to quit the show, producers decided to bring Shepherd back to the struggling series as what seemed like a temporary host. Now, Shepherd is finally explaining to fans what her current status is with “The View.”
In a new preview clip of Shepherd’s upcoming appearance on “The Real,” she explained to the hosts that she’s a part-time host for “The View.” And although some may see her new role as a step down or something beneath her, Shepherd said she’s enjoying the part-time position.
“I am the lead contributor on The View. I’m a part-time lead contributor. And, I love being part time because it’s like getting back together with your ex-boyfriend and you go over to his apartment and you leave your toothbrush. Then you come back and your toothbrush is still there. Then you leave some earrings on the side of the bed, so that all of the other heifers know that that’s your place,” Shepherd said.
Shepherd then explained that being part-time works out for her because it allows her time to do other things, including working with “The Real’s” guest co-host NeNe Leakes.
“So, that’s what it is. It’s like going back to the ex-boyfriend and then you get to leave. But it really works out for me part time because I’ve been able to do other things. I’ve got Woodlawn coming out and I’ve got Ride Along 2. I did Cinderella on Broadway, NeNe and I wrote a book… I’ve got two shows, one on the Food Network,” Shepherd explained of her growing resume.
Well, it looks like things have worked out well for Shepherd in the long run.
