Ben Carson wants to earn the young Black vote, so naturally, he made a rap song. This week, Carson’s unconventional and unorthodox campaign released an old-school rap ad on radio stations in eight markets, including Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit, and Birmingham, Alabama. The $150,000 radio spot, which is laughable at best, has since gone viral online.
Twitter users, including prominent leaders of the #BlackLivesMatter movement, weren’t about to let the Carson campaign off the hook. They weren’t necessarily upset about the dated raping itself, but the ad’s awkward pandering to Black voters that came across as a bit condescending. Check out what Twitter had to say below.
Y’all I’m fed up. Biggie didn’t die for this. Ben Carson has a rap ad now?! ? https://t.co/3oE1Rbxw0x (h/t @tybcreations)

That Ben Carson radio spot is essentially a political payday loan ad. — Jamil Smith (@JamilSmith) November 5, 2015
NO. This can’t really be the real Ben Carson ad. I am crying. This gotta be an Undercover Brother outtake. https://t.co/sQ2DhC9tZi

Unfortunately for Carson, his new ad could serve as excellent attack material for Democrats. What do you think of Carson’s hip-hop-inspired ad? Sound off in the comment section below.
