A teacher in Alabama shot his daughter’s boyfriend while he was in his home. According to reports by WHNT, the incident occurred in Madison County, Alabama.
Fitzgerald McQueen discovered Jaizon Collins, 18, in his teenage daughter’s room at 3:00 a.m. McQueen grabbed his gun and shot Collins in the chest. Collins was rushed to the hospital and treated for the gunshot wound. It was Collins’ 18th birthday and he wanted to celebrate with his girlfriend who is a high school student.
McQueen, 50, has worked as an elementary teacher for 18 years and is considered a church going man by close family and friends. He was arrested and charged with first degree assault for the shooting and could face more charges.
Administrators at McQueen’s school have yet to reveal if he will be reprimanded for the shooting. Collins is expected to make a full recovery.
In a similar incident, a pair of police officers killed their daughter’s unarmed boyfriend because they didn’t agree with the relationship. Some believed the shooting was motivated by race due to the officer’s being White and the victim being Black.
