To shift gears a little, I know you have been talking about this a lot, however, let me say congratulations on your engagement. How does it feel and what are you looking to accomplish with your new fiancé, Doug?
Ellison: The thing that inspires me most about our relationship is the fact that it has been such an inspiration to so many people. Chrisette is somebody that I love dearly, through the ups and the downs I really know that its my place and my position to be her husband. To see so many people be inspired by black love is touching. I guess we don’t have enough examples of it in our community.
Michele: For me a husband is a protector a covering. There are so many things that a woman can do, and so many things that a woman would rather be protected through. I dont mind knowing that in order for me to achieve some of my goals I have to have a covering. My father can only get me through so many things, but once I got through that certain place in my life I needed my next covering. I wanted that physical reflection of who God is in marriage.Doug executive produced my first and third projects. He will be executive producing Milestone. I’m excited about that because when I play in the studio its always fun to give it to somebody and walk out of the studio instead of over thinking it. So Milestone will be our project.
I really loved “Aston Martin Music.” How did you get inspired to write that?
We were playing. Every big moment that I have been blessed to have had has been playful. “Epiphany” went to No. 1 on the Billboard charts because it took two weeks to create, and we played the whole time. Me an Ne-Yo laughed until we couldn’t [anymore]. It came out the way it should have and the tour was a blast.
What encouraging words do you have for the world with regard to pursuing their dreams.
We are strong enough to create what we need to stand on top of.
