Odell Beckham Jr. has been under a mountain of scrutiny as of late. Not only was the New York Giants player suspended over personal foul penalties during a game with the Carolina Panthers, but he’s also been the subject of countless jokes and negative comments about his sexuality from Panthers players and fans alike over online videos of him dancing on camera. Now, Beckham Jr.’s former teammate is coming to his defense and denying that his friend is gay.
Kavahra Holmes, who played with Beckham at LSU, has been seen dancing alongside Bekcham in a number of videos and he recently posted yet another Instagram video of himself dancing with his close friend. He also captioned the video with a message denying that Beckham is gay because he enjoys dancing and goofing around with his friends.
“Lolll it’s crazy how we been brothers for so long and if anybody really knows us know anywhere we go they see us being clowns and dancing but of course it’s made as ‘we gay’
Lol ain’t no shade no where in the mix.. Strictly brotherhood and just cuz we dancing having fun don’t make us gay.. I dance with our without him and vice versa so the ‘gay’ comments really funny .. We laughing … But we gone keep dancing lol.. Str8 up.. #SQUADDDDDDDDDDDDD,” Holmes wrote.
We’re glad that Holmes is sticking by Beckham’s side and that he’s encouraging him to continue to dance how he wants wherever he wants. In a world where Black men and Black boys are constantly policed about how to act or uphold narrow and fragile ideas of masculinity, it’s good to see these men telling the world to lighten up and just let them be who they are.
