A woman in the metro Atlanta area was abducted from her home in an attempted rape. The assailant identified as Robert Giles, 27, made the woman drive to the adult sex shop Starship Novelties and Gifts, and told her to call her boyfriend so he can hear her being raped in the parking lot. Instead, the quick-thinking victim called 911 and the dispatcher pretended he was the boyfriend as police were summoned to the scene.
According to Clayton County Police Major Joe Woodall, “She explained to him what the perpetrator had told her; that he was wanting him to listen while she was being raped. They [police] were able to stop it right then and there and snatched him right from the car.”
Giles was arrested and faces charges of rape, obstruction and false imprisonment, and kidnapping. Police have stated that the 911 call is too graphic to be released to the public.
