The stepdaughter of U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch found herself in a police holding cell last week. According to the NYPD, Kia Absalom took an Uber ride that she had booked through the popular app UberT. At the end of the ride, the driver demanded a fare of $20. However Absalom stated that she thought she had paid the fare through the app and had no money or credit cards on her person. The Uber driver then went to a Brooklyn police station and told police, “‘This lady doesn’t want to pay me.”
Police then took Absalom into custody and placed her in a holding cell for several hours. Eventually her boyfriend arrived and paid the fare and she was released. Police then voided the arrest and allowed her to leave the station. According to the police at no time did Absalom mention that her stepmother was the highest law enforcement officer in the land. The FBI and her father returned to the station to make sure that she did not receive any special treatment.
