Idris Elba was nominated for two Golden Globe awards this year — one for Best Actor in a TV Movie or Limited Series for his lead role in “Luther” and another for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Beasts of No Nation. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to attend the ceremony due to an injury.

The 43-year-old actor hurt his back and after receiving medical attention, a doctor advised him to sit out of this year’s award show.

“On doctor’s orders [he] can not get on a plane to attend the Golden Globes,” a rep for Elba told “Entertainment Tonight.”

Elba has been nominated five times at the Golden Globes for his role in “Luther” and won once in 2012.

There’s been no word on how Elba injured his back in the first place.
