A host of politicians, business executives, influencers and dignitaries descended upon the Hyatt Regency hotel for the 26th annual PUSH Excel Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast. The annual breakfast is an opportunity for PUSH Excel staff to share their annual program agenda, as well as award young scholars and change agents who they consider to be keepers of Dr. King’s Dream.

Among the honorees were 10 Toyota scholars who received $25,000 per year each for a total of $75,000 to further their collegiate studies. In addition to the scholarship fund, opportunities for employment are also possible for students who excel in the program. Additional scholarships were awarded to high achieving students ranging from $1,000 to $2,500.

The breakfast creates a great networking opportunity and with election season quickly approaching, there was an extra buzz in the room this year. Political candidates with their campaign managers in tow worked the room, while business executives and media personalities mingled in the halls.
