Although President Barack Obama will spend Valentine’s Day apart from his lovely wife, first lady Michelle Obama, on Friday, Feb. 11, Obama appeared on “Ellen,” where he and his leading lady exchanged cute yet hilarious Valentine messages.
To his surprise, Mrs. Obama kicked things off by popping up on tape to recite her very own poem. “Roses are red, violets are blue, you are the president and I am your boo,” she said, joking about writing the ode while doing 100 pushups to help get her “creative juices” flowing.
Naturally, host Ellen DeGeneres helped set the mood for Obama to return the message, with two bouquets of red roses and white lilies, a red curtain and a little Barry White-style background music, of course.
“Somebody call the Situation Room because things are about to get hot,” he opened. “Michelle, this Valentine’s Day I’m going to treat you right. I’m going to make you some zucchini bread. Then I’ll spread out some veggies on a plate just the way you like them,” he said.
“Then I’ll give you a massage while you watch Ellen’s Design Challenge on HGTV. Because, I love you so much, I ‘Obamacare’ about you more than you even know.” He continued on a serious note saying, “Michelle, I’ve made a lot of great decisions as president. The best decision I ever made was choosing you. Thanks for putting up with me. I love you.”
The couple who are sharing their final Valentine’s Day in The White House, have come a very long way. As you may recall, on Tuesday, Jan. 26, Mrs. Obama appeared on “The Real,” where she didn’t mince words when asked about a youthful Barack, including how he fared in school. “I mean, he will say it, it’s not even close,” said Mrs. Obama, of who got the better grades, she or her husband. “Barack fooled around in high school. He’s said it, he didn’t take school seriously in high school, he barely got his work done – he was a bum,” she continued. Talk about a diamond in the rough! Nearly 25 years later and the dynamic duo are still going strong.
Happy Valentine’s Day Barack and Michelle Obama. Show them some love in the comment section below.
