Rolling out recently spoke with Paper Paulk about his music and more.
Who were some of your early influences in music growing up?
Well, it’s funny because I started rapping about four years ago. I actually started off singing first. But some of my earlier influences were Jay Z, Big L, Biggie and Big Pun. I loved the music and artform of rap, but I just didn’t rap while growing up.
What was it like working in the studio with Pusha T?
Pusha T blessed me with an amazing verse, man. He didn’t have to do it but he did, and I’m grateful for the opportunity. It just shows that the grind is paying off.
Opera is buzzing pretty heavy in the streets right now. What can listeners expect from your upcoming project in its entirety?
I’m giving the listeners both sides on this EP. I’m giving them the good and the bad because life is all about balance. Far too often we judge each other, take the focus off of the things that matter so I just want to provide a certain type of vibe for everyone.
