When you hear the word author, your brain doesn’t conjure up images of celebrity sightings, red carpets and hot parties, but Litish, a new artistic resource, wants to glitz and glam to that picture. Litish is adding The Literary Experience to the CIAA itinerary this year with a savvy author’s brunch and panel. The social will include a panel of successful women in business who will not only share their expertise but also give advice to budding entrepreneurs who need that extra push. This is just the first step in a series of events around celebrity driven events geared towards changing the public’s perception of writers.
Although books provide the foundation for many films and television shows, novelists aren’t typically celebrated. “It’s ironic that writers don’t get the same type of shine when so many television shows and movies are based on novels or manuscripts … No one talks about the author who penned the book, but you often hear about the writer of a particular song or film. I think it’s time to close that gap,” said Tamika Newhouse, award-winning author and publisher of an independent publishing houses.
Newhouse and several of her author colleagues are looking to change the persona of the word writer. Authors Kimberlee Postell, Vivian Billings, Judy Jackson, Jelisa Cook, and Mia Taylor will join Newhouse and host Vonyetta of Power 98 for an afternoon of festivities that aren’t your average author signing. These lit divas are taking “The Literary Experience” to Charlotte, North Carolina for CIAA to close out Black History Month with a book party. Attendees will be taken between the pages of some of the bestselling novels with author-reader interaction, branding and blogging tips, and opportunities to network.
In addition to a great conversation, there will be surprise celebrity guests, music, drinks, exclusive red-carpet interviews, and more. For more information on connecting with Litish, follow them today on social media at @thelitish.
